The Symphony Orchestra (Pd. 4/5) is the premier ensemble in the NC program and has made 33 ISSMA state finals appearances and named "State Champions" on 10 occasions, most recently in 2014. This ensemble performs both string and full symphony literature throughout the year. Students in this ensemble are required to participate both in and after school rehearsals and performance activities. Private lessons are an expectation for students in this ensemble. Placement into this orchestra is by audition.
The Festival Orchestra (Pd. 6/7) is a top-level ensemble that performs string orchestra literature from a variety of genres and time periods. Students in this ensemble are required to participate both in and after school rehearsals and performance activities. Private lessons are highly encouraged for students in this ensemble. Placement into this orchestra is by audition.
The Philharmonic Orchestra (Pd. 1) is an upper-classman level ensemble that performs string orchestra literature with a focus on continuing technique and pedagogy. Students in this ensemble are required to participate both in and after school rehearsals and performance activities. Private lessons are highly encouraged for students in this ensemble. Placement into this orchestra is by director recommendation.
The Concert Orchestra (Pd. 3) is an freshman level ensemble that performs string orchestra literature with a focus on continuing technique and pedagogy. Students in this ensemble are required to participate both in and after school rehearsals and performance activities. Private lessons are highly encouraged for students in this ensemble. Placement into this orchestra is by middle school director recommendation.
